Sony Still Supporting 3D Technology For Its Games

Sony Still Supporting 3D Technology For Its Games

August 17, 2012 - Both in 2010 and 2011, Sony made 3D technology one of its many pillars for its electronics and gaming division. From movies to games, to applications that allow you to edit 3D photos and video, Sony was helping to ease consumers into this wonderful world. However at this past E3 Expo (2012), talk about 3D and the advancements Sony is taking with the technology wasn't mentioned or highlighted at the event.

While some see this as Sony taking a step back from the world of 3D, the chief executive of PlayStation Europe feels otherwise. According to Jim Ryan, Sony and the PlayStation Brand will continue to support the technology. When speaking with CVG in regards to the lack of discussion about 3D, he had the following to say:

I wouldn?t read too much into its omission. We spoke about it at E3 two years ago and everyone put their glasses on for the first time, and the next year we did the same and everyone did it again. Y?know, there comes a time when you don?t need to talk about it any more.

Don?t read into the fact too much that we haven?t announced anything about 3D.

While Sony isn't actively talking about 3D like they use to a few years ago, many of its major releases; and even third-party releases are still supporting the technology. When it makes sense to integrate 3D technology into a game, you can best believe Sony will be there to support it.
