READ MORE? - Business Consulting Buzz

Dear friend, I hope you?re enjoying this Monday morning.

To start off this week I?d like to show you how to save a substantial amount of money on your advertising.

How much? Would 5% make you happy? If you spend $10,000 a year that?s $500 in savings. How about if you could save $2,000 a year or more?interested?

Okay, what I?m about to share with you is a very simple way ? that is completely legal and ethical ? for you to save 15% on your advertising costs.

The best way to use this negotiation strategy is to tell the media rep that you?d like to have the lower price to test out the media..

If you?ve ever worked in an ad agency you?ll already know what I?m talking about. If you haven?t, you?ll be pleasantly surprised.

Every time an agency books media for its clients they get paid a commission. For example, let?s say you run a software company and ask your agency to place $20,000 worth of TV, online and print ads in media for you. Your agency will in most cases charge you for $20,000 of media but only pay the media company $17,000 or so. So in addition to the creative, design and other marketing work that they charge you for they?ll also keep that $3,000 difference.

So how can you capitalize on this?

When you go to place your next ads do it as an agency. Even if you?re a small company you can still act as your own agency and ask for the NET rates. Which will almost always be 15% less than what the open rate will be.

In addition, you can always negotiate with the media/sales rep at the publication or media company and tell them that you really would like to advertise with them but you can?t spend more than $.

The best way to use this negotiation strategy is to tell the media rep that you?d like to have the lower price to test out the media, and if it works you?ll have no problem increasing the volume and frequency of your advertising. That?s pretty much what media reps love hearing (volume, frequency?dollar signs!)

There you have it. Two ways to save hundreds if not thousands of dollars on your advertising.

Make it work.
